Partnerships

At Roe, we are honored to collaborate with Indigenous communities on their traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories across all regions of British Columbia.

We are deeply committed to fostering respectful and supportive relationships with Indigenous communities, working in collaboration with Rights and Title departments, economic development corporations, and Indigenous-owned businesses. We value the deep connections these communities have to the land and water, recognizing their wisdom in addressing environmental challenges while pursuing responsible development.

Roe played a key role in the establishment of Skemtsin Environmental Inc. (circa 2014) and continues to support its operations. Skemtsin is co-owned by Sidney Jules, a member of the Simpcw Nation, and is based in Barriere, BC. Skemtsin predominantly services clients in BC’s Interior and in North Coast regions, with works delivered under Sidney’s practice. Sidney’s approach to consulting services integrates Traditional Knowledge with Western science, emphasizing training and mentorship to support economic prosperity and long-term employment opportunities for Indigenous candidates.

Beyond our business relationship with Skemtsin, Roe has a strong history of collaboration with Indigenous partners.

We maintain an ongoing relationship with Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) Employment & Future Skills program, providing training and cooperative job placements for graduates of their environmental skills development programs. Roe is supported routinely on business opportunities by Nch’ḵay̓ Development Corporation, with current inclusion on the Nch’ú7mut Endorsed Business Registry.

Roe works routinely in a subcontract role for Lil’wat Nation providing environmental services and Qualified Environmental Professional services. Roe has also contracted Líl’wat Nation directly to provide to support on projects within their traditional territory. In partnership with Tsain-Ko, shíshalh Nation’s economic development corp., Roe provided employment and training opportunities for nation members in delivery of environmental monitoring services for multiple hydroelectric development projects in their Traditional Territory.

Kind Words

Roe Environmental provided timely and professional services for our forestry operations. During the atmospheric river event of November 2021, which posed significant challenges to repairing our transportation infrastructure, Roe Environmental promptly offered creative and cost-effective solutions while maintaining sound stewardship.
